Start of series production of an engine compartment cover of a car produced by a prestigious brand.
The cover is molded in polypropylene mineral Fill ed and has a thermoplastic rubber (TPE) gasket to avoid vibrations and improve aerodynamics. The gasket also has an aesthetic function, creating a single surface with the bodywork and offering a clean appearance to the compartment under the bonnet; both the rigid plastic part and the rubber part are photo-etched according to customer specifications and connect perfectly with the other plastics in the engine compartment.
We have assisted our prestigious OEM customer with our know how in 2 components injection moulding and 2k injection tooling. In this particular case we have used a 850ton injection moulding machine and a mold where the second material cavity is opened by a slide.
