Robotics Division

Techpol has created its own internal Robotics and Automation Division dedicated exclusively to the design and construction of interlocking systems connected to the molding of components, for
  • Ensuring the quality of every equipment used
  • Implementing more efficient equipment for the desired work methodology
  • Testing internal equipment to obtain know how applicable in innovative solutions for customers

What advantages do we offer to our customers?

The skills developed in our Robotics department represent an added value for customers in terms of:
  • more competitive costs
  • less time to start up the production area
  • more flexibility in giving solutions to particular needs
  • faster interventions without waiting for answers from external suppliers
  • a single point of contact for the management of the entire contract

Ultrasonic welding

The automation consists of an interchangeable automated plane, interlocked by an anthropomorphic robot and surrounded by a series of auxiliary devices, each suitable for a particular process or for carrying out a specific test.
These features make the machine “adaptable”, i.e. prepared for processing different types of products.

Specifically on the Ducati fender, an ultrasonic welding operation is carried out.
The "sonotrode" is installed directly on the wrist of the anthropomorphic robot, so it is possible to automatically reach even the most hidden areas of the component being processed, without the aid of any movement of the component itself..

Benefits

A machine of this type makes it possible to considerably reduce the processing time, both thanks to the speed of the anthropomorphic robot, and because during the welding cycle the operator is free to perform other tasks, such as visual rechecking, insertion of the finished product in the packaging, collection of semi-finished products, etc.

Furthermore, the result is free from all the defects due to the not perfect repeatability of the manual work, such as welds very different from each other or in points outside the area indicated by the customer.

Critical issues

Behind the realization of an automation of this type there is certainly a great deal of planning work, since in this phase all the possible criticalities related to the process come out.

This is followed by the work of construction and tuning, designed to eliminate all the imperfections encountered during the initial tests and which then affect the quality of the finished product. Furthermore, the machine must be implemented in such a way that the operator's work is as simple and straightforward as possible.

We look for and eliminate all the possible critical conditions, both for the integrity of the machine (collisions, incorrect cycles, ..), for the integrity of the person (safety, suitable working conditions), for the correct obtaining of the finished product (controls, non-conformity management), and for continuity of work in case of failure (diagnostics).
